Transition to School Program
At Eastlakes Public School, we run a comprehensive four-week Transition to School Program for our incoming Kindergarten students and their families. This program is designed to help children feel comfortable, confident and excited about starting school, while also supporting parents and carers with practical information and guidance.
During each session, children are welcomed into the Kindergarten classrooms to enjoy:
- an introduction to Walker Learning through purposeful play
- a shared storytime experience
- simple hands-on activities
- fun games that help them make friends and connect with their teachers
While the children explore their new learning environment, parents and carers participate in teacher-led workshops and information sessions, which include:
- Welcome to Eastlakes – an introduction to our school community
- Who’s Who and School Readiness – meeting key staff and understanding their roles
- Support Services – information about school-based staff and external providers who can support students and families
- English and Mathematics – what learning looks like in Kindergarten and how you can support your child at home
Our goal is to ensure every family feels informed, supported and connected as they begin their school journey at Eastlakes Public School.
